For over 800 years, the Angel & Royal has played host to an impressive cast of visitors, from King John and Richard III to Edward IV, Charles I and George IV.
When you arrive, you'll walk beneath the same medieval archway that generations of kings, nobles and travellers have passed through before you. For centuries, it has served as the gateway to one of England's most historic hotels.
Today, the Angel & Royal is recognised as the 12th oldest operating hotel in the world (2nd in the UK) and the 42nd oldest continuously trading company worldwide.

A Room Fit for a King
Our celebration will take place in the King's Room, a space that was effectively a royal suite long before the concept of a hotel suite existed.
Known historically as Le Chamber du Roi, the room occupies almost the entire first floor of the medieval gatehouse from the 14th century. Over the centuries, it has hosted many noble guests, starting with Edward III and Queen Philippa and Richard III who held court here in 1483.
For one evening, we'll add our own party to more than 600 years of history of grand gatherings that have unfolded within these walls.

Leave the car at home
If driving isn't your idea of a good time, you'll be pleased to hear that Grantham is just over an hour from London King's Cross by direct train- plenty of time to relax, enjoy the journey and avoid the joys of the A1.
Advance tickets usually go on sale around twelve weeks before, and booking early can make the journey surprisingly cheap. Once you arrive, the Angel & Royal is about a 10- 15 minute walk from the station, depending naturally, on the length of your legs, the size of your luggage and how urgently you feel the need for a drink.
If you prefer your own horsepower
Fear not, Grantham is perfectly reachable by car, for those who prefer their journeys with four wheels, heated seats and the freedom to belt out their playlist at full volume.
